International Exchange Student Admissions
The College is excited that you are considering Columbia as your choice for education abroad in the United States! Columbia College students come from all over the United States and more than 30 different countries and 6 different continents.
The below instructions are intended for students who attend a Columbia College exchange partner school abroad. Information on general international admissions is available here.
How to Apply
- Contact the study abroad center or advisor at your home institution
- Complete the study abroad application
- Provide a copy of your passport
- Provide a copy of your TOEFL or IELTS test score*
- Provide a copy of your home university transcript
- Provide a copy of an official bank statement that demonstrates your ability to cover the total cost of attendance for one academic semester**
*Students studying at Robert Gordon University in Scotland and Canterbury Christ Church University in England are exempt from the TOEFL/IELTS requirement.
**Students planning to study at Columbia College for one academic year must show available funds on the bank statement to cover the total cost of attendance for one academic year.
When all application documents have been received and processed, students and the home institution will be notified in writing of the admission decision. Students will receive a SEVIS I-20 form by mail with their acceptance packet.
Receiving your I-20
The I-20 Certificate of Eligibility form will be sent to you after you have been admitted to Columbia College. Once inside the United States, this form is proof of your legal status. In order to receive your I-20 you must provide the College with an official original bank statement demonstrating your ability to pay the total cost of attendance for one semester or academic year. Financial statements must be current within six months of the start of the semester. The chart below outlines the total cost of attendance for one semester in the 2014-2015 academic year.

Students planning to study at Columbia College for a full academic year should show a total amount of $11,576 on a bank statement for issuance of the I-20.
