Complaint Process

Columbia College's primary objective is to help students meet their educational goals through a positive and rigorous academic experience. In those instances where a student has a concern, the College's administrative procedures should be followed in order to address the concerns or complaints, in a timely and effective manner. The College is committed to its students and would like to know about student concerns. Students may voice concerns through normal administrative procedures, which include meeting with his or her academic advisor, campus director, faculty member, or through a more formal process of grievance as outlined in the College's catalog.

Students can follow the process as outlined in the appropriate catalog:

Undergraduate students

Graduate students

Students, faculty, staff or community members wishing to make a report about the abnormal or inappropriate behavior of a student, faculty, staff or community member should use the complaint process governed by the Division of Student Affairs and complete the incident report form found at the following link: https://cc-advocate.symplicity.com/public_report/index.php. In case of an actual emergency, please contact campus safety or local law enforcement.

On occasion, a student may believe that these administrative procedures have not adequately addressed their concerns and or circumstances related to alleged violations of state consumer protection laws, that include but are not limited to fraud and false advertising; alleged violations of state laws or rules relating to the licensure of postsecondary institutions; and complaints relating to the quality of education or other state accreditation requirements.

Contact information is provided below for students who wish to address their concerns to the appropriate agency.

RN to BSN Program Information Regarding Accreditation:

The numbers of Master’s in nursing clinical instructors recruited remain around 49%. Columbia College would need over 50% to meet Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN formerly NLNAC) standards. The inability to recruit MSN clinical instructors and is a regional and systemic issue. Many associate programs in Missouri face the same issue and we are anxiously awaiting the National League for Nursing’s accreditation services to become operational. In an 8/1/13 NLN accreditation FAQ’s it was estimated that the process to set up this accreditation service would take 2 years. The nursing program plans to apply for NLN accreditation when available.

We are beginning a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (RN to BSN) in AY 14-15. As part of that degree, we will be seeking accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The accreditation/application process requires enrolled students prior to application which will occur in August 2014. Once the college has graduates of the degree program, a site visit will be conducted to achieve full accreditation back to the date of application.
