Art Department

The expressions of mankind by visual means are constantly changing. However, from prehistoric painting to the 3-D computer work of contemporary artists, the core elements of art and design have remained constant. To prepare students for this complex and evolving world of art, the Columbia College Art Department provides a strong foundation in academic art, including painting, drawing, design and art history. Students have the opportunity to concentrate their advanced studio work by majoring in either ceramics, graphic design, illustration, painting and drawing or photography. These majors are rigorous and will help students develop skills and knowledge for art related careers, graduate study and life enrichment.
